Planetario Galileo Galilei.
Galileo Galilei Planetarium is located at the intersection of Avenida General Belisario Roldan and Sarmiento (Parque Tres de Febrero), in Palermo neighborhood, in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
History
Construction works started in 1962, under the direction of the Argentine architect Enrique Jan of the Department of Architecture of the former Municipalidad de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires (MCBA). The works were carried out by the Companía Constructora Civil S. A., and the former Buenos Aires Mayor Eugenio Schettini, inaugurated it on 20 December 1966.
The first performance took place on June 13, 1967. In the first show students from the Escuela Comercialparticipated No. 1 de Banfield and the Colegio del Sagrado Corazón from Capital Federal were instructed by Professor Antonio Cornejo (Geography and Matemátics) about how would the sky over Buenos Aires, Argentina Antarctica and the South Pole woulb be seen that night. The final opening to the general public was carried out on April 5, 1968.
Since that time and throughout its history, the Planetarium has promoted scientific dissemination, enabling scientific knowledge transcends academia and accessible to everyone.
The building consists of five floors, six staircases (one spiral) and a circular room of 20 meters in diameter.Its hemispherical dome is 20 meters in diameter and is lined inside with aluminum sheets, which serves as a screen. In the center is located the heart: the real planetarium.The hemisphere is mounted on a network of interconnected steel rods 5,300, aluminum and wooden plates, curved glass base and U-shaped iron, ie six equilateral triangles whose vertices disposed inward uncírculo result.
In 2011 there was a reform in Room Planetarium. The reopening took place on Thursday 15 December 2011. Until 2011 a Zeiss planetarium projector Mark V to 5 meters high and weighing 2.5 tons was used, with a hundred of projectors. It consisted of a cylindrical shell with independent projectors for the moon, sun and planets visible to the naked eye, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn, and two areas at the ends that projected the stars. A system and projectors to that dome equiposláser afforded directed several shows on the formation of the universe, with the exhibition of 8900 fixed stars, constellations and nebulae.

In the museum's first floor, a moon rock brought to Earth by the Apollo XI mission is exposed . It was a gift from former U.S. President Richard Nixon.
In the forecourt of access to the Planetarium you can see a metallic meteorite found in 1965 in the province of Chaco.
. In the driveway slabs , you can find ammonites extinct marine fossils of about 100 million years, brought from the Province of Neuquén.
The first football match in Argentina was played in Buenos Aires, precisely where the Planetarium is placed today, on June 20, 1867 . A monolith commemorates the place and the event.
. This is the place in which the famous Argentine band SODA STEREO filmed the video for the song "Zoom" to Stereo´s disk Dream.
